VG247 has learnt that Sony it to hold a “business overview and strategy meeting” in Tokyo on January 27, and has been told that Sony will use the event as a reveal platform for PSP2.
Nothing is known of the meeting’s content, but we do know that only “very select press” are attending.
Sources have said this morning that PSP2 will be announced at the showcase.
Sony has declined to comment on the chatter this morning.
In the wake of VG247 publishing this story, MCV has gone live with its own piece claiming “trade sources have confirmed” the console is to be announced at the event.
The console, which is currently under wraps, is expected to be released later this year.
Going by the codename VITA, PSP2 has been in the hands of developers for at least a year. VG247 published the first images of a development kit last November.
Netherrealm Studios and EA have openly said they’ve been working with the machine.

The industry will finally find out what form the PSP2 will take at a press event in Tokyo on January 27th, trade sources have confirmed to MCV.
Claims emerging this morning about an impending reveal for the long-rumoured PSP2 are true.
Publishers were informed late last year of the plans, with some of Sony's biggest parties already at work on titles for the high-specced device.
The date of the reveal itself is just the beginning, however.

传出PSP2将于于1月27日在东京召开发布会发表的英国游戏网站今天继续发布了关于PSP2的消息。内容整理如下：
- 索尼将PSP2当做一款能匹敌次时代家用机的高清掌机来开发的，机能全部发挥后能与PS3有同等的表现。
- PSP2将在2011年第四季度发售。也就是说最早将于10月发售。
- PSP2有HD高清屏幕和双类比摇杆。
- 索尼已经就首发的时机和初期发售的游戏相关问题与游戏开发商进行联系了。
- PSP2意图将全面彻底的在游戏内容上核心化，力求与Apple和Android系游戏差别化。
- 索尼本月首次公开PSP2后，还有在GDC与E3上公开后续情报的计划。
- 零售商可以贩卖传统的光盘为媒体的游戏，psp2还能通过网络购买下载版的。
- 不仅如此，登陆PSN可以下载到小规模的游戏与其他应用软件，还有各种扩展下载数据。
- 虽然不是主要的机能，不过也许会搭载电话的功能。
- PSP2与Sony Ericsson预定2月在巴塞罗那Mobile World Congress上发表的PlayStation Phone是两种不同的产品。
