Technical and Historical Notes
This machine is a variant of the mass production type RGM-86R GM III that appears during the first Neo Zeon Conflict. While the standard GM III was created by upgrading existing RMS-179/RGM-79R GM II units, the Nouvel GM III is a newly produced machine with higher generator output and a different head design. Its new head contains more vulcan gun ammunition and enhanced sensors, and extra ducts are installed in its chest to support the new generator. Like the standard GM III, this type can be equipped with missile launchers on its waist and shoulders, making it an excellent support mobile suit.
Although the GM III is best known as a Karaba mobile suit, it is used by the AEUG and the regular Federation Forces as well. With the end of the Gryps Conflict, the AEUG halts production of the MSA-003 Nemo and adopts the Nouvel GM III as its new mass production machine. The Nouvel GM III also serves as a main mobile suit for both sides during the Pezun Rebellion, and large numbers of these machines are deployed by the Federation Forces Home Fleet and the rebellious Aeno Fleet during the battle for Ayers City.
