ok this is going to sound crazy but I kind of found to get souls. In VBA goto the memory viewer and select WRAM from the drop down list. Then scroll down until you see ROCKMANEXE420031022 or something along those lines (make sure you get the first one). Then below that place in memory fill in the next 4 rows with FF's. if done correctly you should get an e-mail message, you will have all 6 souls and a navi customizer if you don't have one.

at 'start/continue' screen
memory location 0x200b228 change value to 2, press A and presto, you get to start a new game with all your stuff, but you didn't have to beat the game to do it
