That weekend, in Philadelphia, dozens of 8-player Sealed Pack tournaments will be ongoing, all weekend long!
In order to keep this event as full of surprises as possible, we are deliberately NOT releasing any more card names from this set, until that weekend. But once the events get started, we’ll be sharing as much of the excitement as we can, showing off how much fun Sealed Pack Dueling can be, and answering the ongoing mystery of which cards made the cut for this special 220-card set!

Starfoil Prize Cards
YCS Philadelphia will also be the first chance for players to get Starfoil Battle Pack Prize Cards (set abbreviation: BATT). These are cards that we figured people will want as Starfoils, but which aren’t appropriate for Sealed Pack play. So instead, we’re giving them away as Starfoil prize cards – but only for Sealed Pack Tournaments!

Moving on to the question bag this week, we got this question from an eager Battle Pack enthusiast:
Can you tell us more about glossy black & glossy white rares?
Sure we can!
On a standard Rare card (from normal booster packs), the card name is in silver foil.
For Duelist League prize cards, we started experimenting with other card name colors. Duelist League prize cards currently come with Blue, Green, Purple, and Red card names.
Battle Pack Rare Cards have a foil-stamped, colored name, similar to the Duelist League cards. But instead of rainbow colors, Battle Pack Rares have names in either black or white. Xyz Monsters have glossy white names (since black letters can be hard to read on a black card frame…). All other cards have glossy black names – even Spells and Traps, which normally have white names when they come as common cards! This will be the first time ever that you can get Spells and Traps with black titles.
We put up some pictures of glossy black Trap Cards here. You might notice from the picture that the names almost have a 3D look to them. That’s a side effect of the foil stamping process – the names are practically etched into the card paper. If you run your finger across a Battle Pack Rare card’s name, you’ll actually feel the letters against your skin. |
