You should have better to say:

You know, under some circumstances, "gay" means "happy".
I mean, what the hell makes you feeling so happy?

And my answer would be: "When you are only hours to go back home, you would be just as excited as me now..."

Practice makes perfect...
My hint would be: First write down what to say, then use complexable sturcture to "link" sentenses together. Actually, if you take a look at most of the articles on Western magazines, you can learn a lot form them. I would say the most difficult part of writing an essay would not be how to write long sentenses, but how to write meaningful phrases.

Damn it, I can't arrange a meeting with any of those visa officer in china right now. Their schedules are totally booked solid for some time already. If I can't get it done in three days, I will cancel my fly(if it can be so) or change the time to june.
You know, in such a situation I am. almost I want to call it a terrible plight. but when I got here, I saw someone is just preparing  journey home in high spirits-----rocking as high as he can be.
damn it you stupid system of visa application!
