Publisher Deep Sliver and developer Piranha Bytes are taking a page from the Gabe Newell playbook and have some good news for PlayStation 3 owners. After being left out in the cold the first time around, Risen 2: Dark Waters is in development now for PC and BOTH consoles.
The RPG is set several years after the events of the first game will see the player-hero (now an Inquisitor) take on the none-too-small challenge of stopping the monsters that are threatening sea-faring vessels and even humanity itself. The first leg of your quest involves hooking up with some pirates who will point you in the right direction (and probably drink your rum).
Risen 2 will allow players to unlock new paths and skills for their characters, present multiple solutions to the problems they’ll encounter, and “aims to combine the most loved classic RPG gameplay mechanics of the original Risen with a fresh theme and setting on a huge variety of themed island locales.”
Aside from the decidedly pirate-themed concept art that’s being floated, details are scarce. No release date has been targeted yet indicating the title could be on track for late this year, possibly even next. We’ll keep our scout ships in the area and get more intel as it develops.
Were YOU a fan of the first game? Eager to get your swashbuckle on with the followup? Let us know if you’re anxiously anticipated Risen 2 and why!
本作是2009年推出的Risen(崛起)的续作,也是该系列首次登陆PS3平台。制作组Piranha Bytes来自德国,曾制作过Gothic(歌特王朝)系列,该系列和崛起都以开放式地图而著称。
